Orio al Serio International Airport
The Orio al Serio airport is one of the main Italian airports used by millions of passengers every year. The project, conducted with the international partner SEETEK S.A., led to the complete computerization of the ground handling resource planning process through the Smart Arms tool. Where operational airport managers were forced to have long and complex manual scheduling sessions, a modern IT system now supports them in operations. The system analyzes the seasonal flight program and, through a powerful engine of rules, plans the activities and assigns them to the staff, managing all the constraints linked to skills, contracts and more. The project also saw the implementation of an efficient integration between different IT systems that guarantees the synchronization in real time of all the information necessary for the correct operation of the airport. Smart Arms and its integration into the airport operational processes are the basis for future steps forward in the direction of Air Collaborative Decision Making.
